OTA’s Grand Musical Fundraising Night was hailed by the audience and sponsors: Over $2K in proceeds go to important projects

September 30, 2026 — On July 17, 2026, the Ottawa Tamil Association successfully hosted its Grand Musical Fundraising Night featuring musician Vaheesan and his team. Since Vaheesan’s music was not originally scheduled for Ottawa (while performances took place in all other cities on the tour), the OTA team confirmed that no other potential organizers planned to hold a show. In response, OTA stepped in to host the event both to appreciate Vaheesan and his team and to turn it into a fundraising show supporting several important OTA projects. 

Thanks to our many sponsors, including our title sponsors, Nisha Jewellery (Montreal) and Pace Law (Toronto), without whom the show would not have been possible. The ticket prices were kept very affordable to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to attend and enjoy the show. Furthermore, the stage was graced by talented and passionate performers and master of Ceremony from Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa, showcasing their incredible artistry and captivating the audience with their outstanding performances.

The event drew a strong turnout of over 400 people. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the live performances, creating a vibrant, positive atmosphere that strengthened community bonds among Ottawa’s Tamil diaspora and supporters. Many young fans enjoyed the show, and it provided entertainment during the school holidays.

The OTA team took on this substantial undertaking and successfully completed all planning and execution within just 10 days. We sincerely thank the title sponsors, all sponsors, and the solid team of volunteers and organizers whose dedication made the event possible. Special appreciation also goes to musician Vaheesan and his team for their outstanding performance, as well as to every attendee who contributed to the strong turnout and fundraising success.
