September 21, 2026 — Ottawa, ON – September 21, 2026 – The Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA) Running Club took part in the 2026 Canada Army Run for the second year in a row. Club members completed the 5K and joined thousands of participants in downtown Ottawa on Sunday, September 20, supporting the Canadian Armed Forces community and earning the event’s signature dog-tag finisher medals.
The races started near Ottawa City Hall and finished by the National War Memorial. Runners passed familiar landmarks, including Parliament Hill, and ran alongside civilians and military personnel.
This year’s outing follows the club’s first Army Run appearance in 2025 and marks OTA’s second consecutive participation. Founded as part of OTA’s healthy-living initiative, the Running Club remains open to all skill levels. Through group runs, training, and community events, it encourages members to “Run Stronger, Thrive Longer.”
The club’s return to Army Run highlights its focus on fitness, camaraderie, and connection among Tamil Canadians in Ottawa. The Canada Army Run brought the Ottawa community together again in a powerful way.
Finishing the race boosted members’ health and showed the same spirit of endurance that runs through OTA’s other community work. OTA continues its broader 2025–2030 agenda, including plans to host the 3rd International Conference on Tamil Nationhood and Genocide around 2030, building on earlier conferences such as the 2018 gathering in Ottawa. While continuing its yearly progress, OTA is also advancing its OTA Horizon 2030 plan.
