Each year, the Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA) proudly organizes a Thanneer Panthal (hydration center) during the Ottawa Sivan Temple’s grand Ther Festival. This cherished tradition provides free chilled water, Mor (buttermilk), and fruit juices to hydrate thousands of devotees attending the vibrant chariot procession.
OTA volunteers set up shaded stalls at the temple grounds to serve refreshing beverages, ensuring the comfort and well-being of attendees in Ottawa’s summer heat. This seva (selfless service) initiative reflects Tamil values of compassion and community care, supporting the festival’s devotees in July..
