3rd Annual Thiyagi Thileepan memorial Food Drive – தியாகி திலீபன் நினைவு உணவு நன்கொடை
In September 2022, OTA, OTACT, and OTACT Taekwondo jointly collected 800 lbs of non-perishable food items and handed them over to the Ottawa Foodbank as part of the Thiyaki Thileepan memorial Food Drive effort by the Tamil Civic Action initiative. Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA) thanks those who contributed to this great effort and is proud to be continuing the efforts next year with your support.
In Tamil Eelam, on Sep 15, 1987, Thiyagi Thileepan who was on hunger strike for 12 days highlighting the implementation of the Indo-Sri Lanka accord requested setting up an interim council and 5 requests: release of political prisoners, stopping colonization, and withdrawal of Sri Lankan army and police from schools and villages. Tamils were hoping that India would listen and agree. However, he died on September 26, 1987.
ஒட்டாவாவில் தியாகி திலீபன் நினைவாக, பழுதடைய முடியாத 800 இறாத்தல் உணவு பொருட்களைத் திரட்டி ஒட்டாவா உணவு வங்கிக்கு வழங்கியுள்ளனர். தியாகி திலீபன் நினைவு உணவு நன்கொடை மூன்றாவது வருடமாக தொடர்ந்து வருகிறது. தியாகி திலீபன் உண்ணா நோன்பிருந்த புரட்டாதி மாதத்தில் Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa போன்ற இடங்களில் உள்ள தமிழ் அமைப்புகள் இணைந்து அவரின் தியாகத்தை நினைவு கூரும் முகமாக இச்செயற்பாட்டை முன்னெடுதந்திருந்தனர்.
