Dear Mayor Patrick Brown,
On behalf of the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA), we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and leadership in the establishment of the Tamil Genocide
Monument in Brampton’s Chinguacousy Park. Your commitment to honoring the memory of the victims of the Tamil genocide and amplifying the Tamil community’s pursuit of justice has left an
indelible mark on our community and beyond.
Your resolute stance, from championing the monument’s construction in 2021 to its historic unveiling on May 10, 2025, demonstrates a profound dedication to truth, remembrance, and human
rights. Despite challenges and opposition, your leadership ensured that this monument-a powerful symbol of resilience and a call for accountability-became a reality. Your words, “We will not forget the Tamil Genocide,” resonate deeply, reflecting Brampton’s commitment to standing against genocide denial and foreign interference.
We are very proud that our member organization National Council of Canadian Tamils (NCCT) drove the construction of this monument. We also look forward to seeing other Tamil organizations
worldwide take initiatives to build Tamil Genocide Monuments or Museums in the next decade.
The Tamil Genocide Monument serves not only as a tribute to the over one hundred forty-six thousand lives lost but also as an educational landmark for future generations. Your personal involvement, including your presence at the unveiling ceremony and your advocacy for the Tamil community, has strengthened our resolve to seek justice and preserve our history.
We are immensely grateful for your partnership with the National Council of Canadian Tamils, Brampton City Councilors, and the Tamil diaspora in bringing this project to fruition. Your actions
have sent a powerful message that Brampton is a city that values truth, justice, and unity.
Thank you, Mayor Brown, for standing with the Tamil community and for your enduring commitment to humanity. We look forward to continued collaboration in fostering remembrance
and justice.
With profound appreciation,
