For the past decade, the Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA) has proudly organized the annual Tamil Heritage Month Gala, held on the last Sunday of January. This esteemed event brings together community leaders, human rights activists, civil servants, and government officials from federal, provincial, and municipal levels across Canada, alongside members of Tamil communities from Montreal, Toronto, and beyond. Each year, more than 300 guests gather for an inspiring evening of traditional Tamil performances, insightful speeches from dignitaries on human rights and justice, and meaningful networking opportunities.
Marking our 10th annual Gala, the 2026 Tamil Heritage Month event will take place at the St. Elias Centre in Ottawa on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with a reception starting at 3:30 PM, followed by the main program and dinner from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. This year’s theme, “Thank You, Canada—Continuous recognition of Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day and steps toward justice,” highlights our gratitude for Canada’s support and ongoing efforts toward global human rights. The in-person gathering will feature a high-quality two-hour program including cultural dances, music, a keynote address, and dignitary remarks, preceded by an hour-long meet-and-greet reception.
